First agent and developer forum for Hertsmere

Last Modified May 03, 2024

Dozens attended the first Hertsmere Planning Agent and Developer Forum which took place today (Friday 3 May).

Organised by our Planning and Economic Development team, the event was a first opportunity for regular users of our planning service to get updates on processes, policy changes and any other significant issues facing the development industry.

The inaugural forum, staged at Elstree Film Studios in Borehamwood, also provided the chance for planning agents and those in the development sector to have their say on the ways in which we can provide the clearest and most efficient service.

A number of officers from our Planning and Economic Development team were on hand to listen to industry professionals’ views, give information and advice, and also provide an update on our Draft Local Plan consultation, which is open until 29 May.

Cllr Nik Oakley, the council’s Portfolio Holder for Planning, Infrastructure and Transport, said: “The creation of the Hertsmere Agent and Developer Forum clearly shows that, in our borough, growth and development are treated in a very inclusive way and are inextricably linked.

“The forum provides the opportunity for us to have close collaboration with planning agents and developers, which will be hugely effective in achieving a more efficient planning service. It means we’ll be able to further influence the pace of delivery and quality of development, and also enable us to receive important feedback so we are aware of challenges facing the development sector.

“We’re looking forward to working more closely with the industry, as effective two-way communication is vital in making sure we can deliver the type of high quality sustainable growth that our residents expect and deserve.”
