Do you have a view on the way betting shops, bingo halls, amusement arcades and other gambling establishments and services are regulated in Hertsmere? Then have your say on our three-year review.
The council’s original gambling policy came into effect in September 2007 in line with government legislation – the council prepared a gambling policy and statement, which explained how licensing would be operated. The policy is then reviewed every three years with the last revision being in 2018.
Cllr Sarah Hodgson-Jones, Licensing Committee Chair, explained: "We have to review the policy every three years to ensure it is still valid, current and applicable to ourselves as the licensing authority as well as those affected by it. The draft policy contains the minimum of amendments and there are no changes to the intent or direction of the existing policy.
“Premises that hold any form of bingo, betting, amusements with prizes or gaming machines as well as small society lotteries are affected by the gambling policy.
“It’s important we give everyone the opportunity to comment on how we deal with these licences and applications so please get in touch by 3 September."
