Don't bin your household enquiry form

Last Modified October 11, 2018

Residents who do not respond to an important form risk losing the right to vote on polling day – but there is still time to act.

Canvassers from Hertsmere Borough Council’s Elections Team are visiting properties that have not responded to the Household Enquiry form, which were sent to all properties in the borough in July.

Sam Langford, Electoral Services Manager, said: “The canvasser will be able to assist you to complete the form. If you are out when the canvasser calls they will leave a calling card to confirm the date of the visit. They will then visit a second time.”

The Household Enquiry Form is to make sure that the information the council holds on the current electoral register is up to date. It also helps our Elections Team to identify any residents who are not registered to vote. This form must be completed, even if there are no changes to make.

Sam added: “It’s really important that residents respond, so we can make sure we have the right details on the electoral register for every address in Hertsmere. To make sure you are able to have your say in future elections, simply check the form and respond as soon as you can.”

“The Household Enquiry Form is not a registration form. If you have recently registered but your details do not appear on the Household Enquiry form, you will still need to complete and return the form.

“If you’re not currently registered your name will not appear on the form and you will need to complete the form and return it to us. We will send you information explaining how to register in the post. After you have completed the Household Enquiry form the easiest way to get yourself registered is online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.”
